Composite/tooth-coloured fillings

Made to blend in with the natural colour of your teeth, composite fillings are used to fill decayed teeth and are highly durable as well as being aesthetically pleasing.

Dentures

Dentures are false teeth used to replace missing teeth and are available in a variety of forms, including full and partial dentures. They can be custom made for both the upper and lower jaw as required and can be removable or made to clasp onto other teeth or dental implants.

Cerecs

Using 3D technology, Cerecs are customised porcelain restorations that allow more complex restorations such as crowns/caps to be fitted in just one visit to the clinic. Made with CAD/CAM 3D technology and software, Cerecs remove the need for multiple visits and temporary restorations, as well as outsourcing to a dental lab. Cerecs allows for a number of restorations, including inlays/onlays, partial crowns, veneers and crowns.

Benefits include:

  • One visit
  • No temporaries
  • Metal-free
  • Highly aesthetic
  • Long-lasting
  • No impressions needed

Root canal (endodontic) treatment

When the nerve or pulp inside the tooth has become infected or died, then root canal treatment will be required. This involves removing the infected pulp and thereby saving the tooth by filling the resulting cavity and placing a crown on top.

Infected pulp is usually the result of untreated dental decay, decay beneath a filling, tooth damage due to trauma, tooth grinding or gum disease.

We normally require three appointments to complete root canal treatment, which involves:

  • Removing the pulp/nerve
  • Cleaning and shaping the canals
  • Filling the empty canals and placing a filling or crown on the tooth

Extractions

If you need teeth removed for any reason – whether it’s due to an abscess, space management or vertical fractures – then we can perform extractions at Belconnen Dental Centre. Our dentists can carry out simple dental extractions while we refer complicated procedures to our oral surgeon colleagues. To minimise postoperative complications, we’ll view a current X-ray of the tooth before the procedure and then give you written post-op instructions.

Happy gas

Happy gas or ‘laughing gas’, can be used with nervous patients, helping them to relax during treatment.

The gas has an anaesthetic and analgesic effect and is a safe way to calm anyone who’s anxious about the dentist’s chair.

Medicare-Child Dental Benefits Scheme

We accept patients on The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), which commenced on January 1, 2014, and provides access to benefits for basic dental for children aged 2-17 years. The total benefit entitlement is capped at $1,000 per child over a two calendar year period. If your child is entitled to the benefit, you should receive a letter in the mail. The CDBS provides individual benefits for a range of services including examinations, X-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital.

Here at Belconnen Dental Centre, we have lowered our fees so you will have no out of pocket expenses, and in some cases, we can claim on the spot to save you time by not having to go to medicare. If you have any questions about this, give us a call today!

Children

At Belconnen Dental Centre, we work with patients of all ages, including children, who can start visiting the dentist as soon as they have teeth. We believe it’s a good idea to bring them in from a young age to get them used to the dental clinic and to familiarise them with the dentist, so they don’t develop a fear.

Veterans Affairs

Veterans Affairs card holders are welcome at Belconnen Dental Centre. Just bring your card along to your appointment.
