Composite/Tooth-Coloured Fillings

Made to blend in with the natural colour of your teeth, composite fillings are used to fill decayed teeth and are highly durable and aesthetically pleasing.

Crowns/CERECs

Using 3D technology, Cerecs are customised porcelain restorations that allow more complex restorations, such as crowns/caps to be fitted in just one visit to the clinic. Made with CAD/CAM 3D technology and software, Cerecs removes the need for multiple visits and temporary restorations and outsourcing to a dental lab. Cerecs allow for several restorations, including inlays/onlays, partial crowns, veneers and crowns.

Benefits of Cerecs

  • One visit
  • No temporaries
  • Metal-free

Root Canal (Endodontic) Treatment

Root canal treatment will be required when the nerve or pulp inside the tooth has become infected or died. This involves removing the infected pulp and saving the tooth by filling the resulting cavity and placing a crown on top.

Infected pulp is usually the result of untreated dental decay, decay beneath a filling, tooth damage due to trauma, tooth grinding or gum disease.

We usually require three appointments to complete root canal treatment, which involves:

  • Removing the pulp/nerve
  • Cleaning and shaping the canals
  • Filling the empty canals and placing a filling or crown on the tooth

Extractions

If you need teeth removed for any reason – whether due to an abscess, space management or vertical fractures – then we can perform extractions at Belconnen Dental Centre. Our dentists can carry out simple dental extractions while we refer complicated procedures to our oral surgeon colleagues. To minimise postoperative complications, we’ll view a current X-ray of the tooth before the procedure and then give you written post-op instructions.

Nitrous Oxide/Happy Gas

Happy gas, or ‘laughing gas’, can be used with nervous patients, helping them to relax during treatment.

The gas has an anaesthetic and analgesic effect and is a safe way to calm anyone anxious about the dentist’s chair.
